This afternoon's kayaking stage on the Thames down at Putney was a fine example of nature at work. With the highest tide of the year, the Thames rose SEVEN metres in a little over four hours.
Below - the calm before the influx. Around 12.30pm
By around 3.30pm. the water was starting to threaten the road (photo of the same slipway, just a little further back).
4.30pm and the South embankment was entirely flooded. The kayakers were finishing their 'lap' on the road to avoid the strong tides.
I hope the owner of this Ferrari had a good pair of wellies and an understanding insurance company. A good sense of humour too, seeing the kayaker paddling up with a video camera to record the afternoon for posterity!
